Year of the Horse

Gong Xi Fa Cai!  Happy Chinese New Year!  It's the Year of the Horse.  People born in the year of the horse tend to be astute, fashionable and brimming with self-confidence. However, they also like to show-off, can be self-centered and are always at risk of falling in love too easily.  It wouldn't be Chinese New Year without fireworks and fire-crackers. Traditionally they are set off on New Year's Eve in order to bid farewell to the old year and usher in the new.

The card was designed for some January birthdays.  These family members are in ranching so I went with a Western theme.  Most of the supplies are retired Stampin' Up.  The sketch show a ribbon with a bowtie, but I'm trying to keep the card mailable so I went with a flat ribbon and the small star punch out.  I used my fingernails to distress the edges of the circles and sponged them with the Close to Cocoa ink.

Sew, It's Your Birthday!

I made this card for a sister-in-law that's loves to sew.

Cardstock: Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Whisper White, Twitterpated dsp
Ink: Blushing Bride, Soft Suede
Accessories: Big Shot, Measuring Tape embossing folder, Apothecary Accents framelits, Dress Up framelits, 3/8" Island Indigo ruffled ribbon, sponge, dimensionals

I sponged Soft Suede ink over the layer that was embossed with the measuring tape folder.  To soften to edges of the Apothecary framelit, it was sponged with Blushing Bride ink.  I think Robin will enjoy the dress form and measuring tape that creates her birthday sewing card.

I used the punched out arrows from the chevron border punch to decorate the inside of the card to carry on the arrows pointing to the right.

Last week, Stampin' Up hosted a leadership conference in Houston.  One of the big announcement was a new product: Blendabilities.  They are alcohol based markers.  Here's a picture of colors that were released for the preview:

Here's the scoop. . . 

They will come in packs of three for $11.95

• There will also be a group of skin toned markers and one is like an eraser!
• We will also have a new Memento Black ink pad which is perfect for alcohol based markers.  You are going to love it!
• They will be available some time in first quarter of this year
• We may get more colors if the response is positive.
• Stampin' Write markers will continue to be in our catalog.
