Thanksgiving name placeholder

We celebrated Thanksgiving dinner with the Miner's.  Bob and Troy put a whole turkey and (later) a turkey breast in the deep fryer.  Yummo!  Troy also put a ham in the oven for the non-turkey eaters (sinners)!  Seriously, the ham was delicious.  Lisa made stuffing and mashed potatoes with gravy.  Someone made a sumpitious corn casserole.  Becca made sweet pototoes.  Miranda did the cranberry relish.  I did the green bean casseroles.  Appetizers were mostly done by Melissa and Lisa with me adding a spinach dip and bread.  Dessert were pies by apple (Julie) and pumpkin and pecan (Melissa).  BTW, the pecan pie was divine, Melissa used our Grandma Free's recipe!

Caroline and Becca made the placeholders for the diners.  Each of use got a custom made turkey.  Here's mine:

Happy Thanksgiving Everyone!

I hope each and every one of you has a blessed day.  Enjoy those people who share this special day with you and remember those who are not with us. Wear loose clothing since it's the start of the eating season.  Wear body armour to the Black Friday sales.  Most importantly, don't go into debt to make someone have a Merry Christmas.  It's just not worth it to your wallet.

Today's card features one of the anniversary stamps from the Best of Snow. Frosty the snowman was an all time favorite, he's returned in a smaller format; so Little Frosty he is.

I can't remember what die or punch I used for the layered piece under the greeting.  When I have extras I put them in with whatever paper pack it came from.  I came across a few sheets of the retired dsp and decided to try to use it up.

McKenzie and Pete's Wedding Day

Today, my niece, McKenzie is marrying her childhood sweetheart, Pete.  We would have liked to be there to witness their marriage, but we just can't make it out to Idaho for a quick weekend.  May God bless their union and bless them with loving children.

Can you believe it's only one week until Thanksgiving?  Christmas is right around the corner.  I gave this card to my doctor when I saw her yesterday.

13 Days of Holiday Sales

Sunday afternoon brought several tornadoes through Illinois into Indiana.  My family was safe and we had no damage in our area.  My nephew, Matt, was at the Bears game (his first pro football game ever) and had to endure the weather delay there.  Apparently there were 16 tornadoes varying from EF2 to EF4 that destroyed many homes and businesses.  Several people lost their lives.  Please pray for these families.

Green Harvest of Thanks

I decided to do a different version of a card I did recently.  To bring out the grain of the textured impressions embossing folder, I rubbed Very Vanilla ink over the raised edges.

A Honey of a Day

Yesterday was my friend, Diana's birthday.  Here's her card:

I stamped the honey pot on the inside of her card.  Isn't it cute?  The stamp set is a retired Stampin' up set.

Double Embossed Birthday Card

By now the two ladies who I made this card for have received it.  This card is double embossed.  First it was put through the Big Shot with a textured impressions embossing folder.  Then, I rubbed (a very juicy) VersaMark pad over the top of the impressed image.  Next, sprinkle some silver embossing powder and heat.  Simple and elegant.  Voila'!

Remembering Rodney

Today is Veteran's Day and the first Anniversary of Rodney's passing.  Rod was a veteran who served in both the Marine Corps and the Air Force.  He's the first of our family (this generation) to pass away.  

This image is from a very old Stampin' Up! set, Courage and Honor.  It's the raising of the flag at Iwo Jima and holds great meaning for all Marines.  Peace be with you, Rodney.

Happy Birthday, USMC!

Today is the 238th birthday of the U.S. Marine Corps.  Please remember one of the oldest military services of our country.  These proud men (and now) women have an honored tradition of serving our country.  They are the elite!

This is the card I made for one of my nephew's when he graduated from Marine Boot Camp in 2010.  Semper Fi!
