Bite Me!

Yesterday, Stampin' Up! release a new photopolymer stamp set that's perfect for Halloween - Bite Me!

Check here to view flyer

Today is Gaylene's birthday.  I made a Z fold card for here in green (her favorite color).

To make this card take 12x12 cardstock cut off a piece at 5-1/4".  Then score at 4-1/4", flip over and score at 8-1/2".  Easy, peasy!  These cards are great when you've got lots of writing or need to have the office sign it for a co-worker.  Happy Birthday, Gaylene!

Weekend Wedding

My sister, Melissa, made today's card.  She, her husband and another couple went to their friend's daughter's wedding here in Illinois.  I got to be "Auntie Karen" to the girls and pets.  We had a great time together eating pizza and watching FoodTV.  Elton, the dog, is the best foot warmer!

Stamp Set: Best of Brides & Babies
Cardstock: Whisper White, Brushed Silver
Ink: VersaMark
Accessories: Heat tool, silver emboss powder

The stamp set is from the Best of 25 years Stampin' Up anniversary sets.  The card is simple and elegant.  Perfect for a wedding.  Great job, Melissa!

First Day of Fall

It's the first day of Fall.  The air felt just a little bit crisp this morning when I took the dog out for his morning walk.

Stamp set: Gently Falling
Cardstock: Pool Party, Crushed Curry, Very Vanilla and Spice Cake dsp
Ink: More Mustard, Crushed Curry, Pool Party
Accessories: 1/4" More Mustard grosgrain ribbon

Nothing says Fall like leaves; so my card today showcases leaves.  I used the More Mustard ink for the outline and Crushed Curry for the body of the leaf and acorn.  I used the Pool Party for the outline and then stamped off once for the body of the leaf.  This card is a good example of two-step stamping.

Enjoy the first day of Fall!

Broken Arm

My "niece" Emily broke her arm at a soccer game recently.  Poor girl had to sit out on the sidelines and got trampled when players ran off the field.  Emily is a trooper so I had to our girl a special get well card.

Stamp Set: It's A Wrap Occasions
Cardstock: Pretty in Pink and Melon Mambo patterned DSP
Ink: Regal Rose and Melon Mambo
Accessories: Sponge, paper snips and Stampin' dimensionals

Overall it's a simple card, I wanted to put bandaids over broken paper.  It's shades of pink for a young girl.

Hope your arm heals fast, Emily!

Coffee, anyone?

I've got a great friend who's like a little brother to me.  He and his wife have birthdays one day after the other.  Brian loves his coffee so, I created this "perfect blend" of coffee just for him.

Stamps: Perfect Blend
Cardstock: Soft Suede, Crumb Cake, Whisper White, Comfort Cafe' dsp
Ink: Early Espresso
Accessories: paper snips, scallop square punch, postage punch, TIEF Stripes, stampin' dimensionals

The stamp set is perfect for paper piecing.  I used scraps of cardstock and dsp to create the coffee containers and popped them up on dimensionals.  I used the postage punch for the words and trimmed off the top and bottom for a different look, then layered it with the scallop square punch.

Happy Birthday, Brian!

Good bye Elm tree

Today my Elm tree will be removed.  It suffered some damage from last week's storm and needs to go; like so many other big, beautiful trees in the neighborhood.  In memory of the lovely trees, I'm posting this card I made for a co-worker a few years ago.

This card uses Lovely as a Tree set, a timeless Stampin' Up! stamp set.  So good bye tree!

First Big Storm

Friday evening, we had our first big storm here in Illinois.  Well, it was a doozy!  Our neighborhood had a thunderstorm with a microburst that had 80 mph winds.  By the time it was all over, the place looked like a war zone.  Down power lines, uprooted trees, branches and limbs everywhere.  Power has been out for a while, but the great folks at ComEd worked tirelessly to restore power as soon as they could.  We got to enjoy the sound of power saws chopping up tree limbs and generators humming for a while.

We're thankful no one in the neighborhood was injured.  Cleaning up this week.  No cards to see today.
